Professor Emeritus of Native American Studies

Robert Hill is retired from UGA’s College of Education, where he specialized in adult education.  He headed INAS’s project on Navajo pottery renewal.  To continue preserving the Navajo pottery traditions, he partnered with his long-time pottery instructor and elder, Sarah Natani.  Together they created a project for the Navajo Nation to engage in arts and cultural practices.  Their aim was to strengthen community and to draw attention to the issue of endangered cultural knowledge and practices such as Navajo pottery. Dr. Hill is currently involved in a Navajo-led service learning project for high school and college students on the Navajo Reservation.
