First Native American Nominated to Chair the National Endowment for the Humanities

On Tuesday, October 5 President Biden nominated Navajo citizen Shelly Lowe as chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). If confirmed by the US Senate, Lowe will be the first indigenous American to head the NEH, which provides funding and resources for humanities research, education, and cultural development across the United States.
