Indigenous Women's Softball A Hit in Mayan Yucatan Communities.

Mayan Women's Softball Teams in the Yucatan are winning - without shoes and in traditional dress. Las Diablillas (the Little Devils) and the Amazonas have brought a lot of attention to state and municipality women's softball leagues because, despite their decision to eschew typical uniforms and cleats, they are consistently defeating more experienced terms who wear full uniforms. A rigorous practice schedule and travel for games have also provided community women with a more independent lifestyle that confronts issues of traditional gender roles.
