US Bureau of Land Management Chooses Lithium Over Sacred Lands in Nevada

US District Judge Miranda Du refused a bid by the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony and the Oregon-based Burns Paiute Tribe to halt progress toward constructing a lithium mine at Thacker Pass, about 230 miles northeast of Reno. Du stated that recent evidence demonstrated shameful historical abuse and massacres of Native Americans, but was not enough to halt Lithium Nevada Corp.’s construction of a mine at the site.
