Elise Blasingame & Muscogee Park in Atlanta

Image:
Elise Blasingame

UGA Political Science & International Affairs PhD student and Institute of Native American Studies Ruth Pack Scholarship recipient serves as Adair Park Committee Chair in Atlanta. Elise, in conjunction with the Muscogee Nation, has led planning for the redesign and new name of what was formerly known as Brookline Triangle Park. Muscogee Park at Brookline Triangle will acknowledge and honor the Muscogee history of the Atlanta area.

Elise is an experienced non-profit executive who has brought much-deserved attention to the lack of public acknowledgement and memorialization of Muscogee people in Georgia. As a 2022 recipient of an INAS Ruth Pack Scholarship, INAS is proud to support Elise and her dedication to Native American issues in our state.

2022 is the first year of the Ruth Pack Scholarship Program which was established by a generous donation from UGA Alumnus Chris Goeckel. As UGA's Institute of Native American Studies continues to grow, we look forward to expanding partnerships and collaborations with engaged young scholars, tribal and community organizations, UGA alumni, and regional businesses.
