On October 3rd, Wab Kinew, Onigaming First Nation, won a historic election to become Canada's first-ever First Nations provincial premier.

Provincial premiers serve as leaders of provinces in Canada, similar to a state governorship in the U.S.

A crowd of young voters came out to support the former rapper, on-air personality and bestselling author in Manitoba on Tuesday. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his support for Kinew in a statement relased after the election, calling it “a historic win for Indigenous Peoples and for Canadians."
