Pascua Yaqui Tribe Land Put in Trust to Promote Economic Development & Housing Opportunities

On December 29, the Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs decided to acquire in trust tribally-owned lands for promoting economic opportunities, new housing options for the community, and other purposes under the Old Pascua Community Land Acquisition law.

Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema was a lead sponsor for the bill that made this possible. She stated, “Restoring this land to the Pascua Yaqui Tribe is essential to the Tribe’s long-term success and economic resilience – and I couldn’t be prouder to help make it a reality."
