Colloquium in Public History - Indigenizing Athens

Examination of the role of public history in the historical profession. In addition to exploring the historiography of the field of public history, the course introduces students to methods used in the discipline. Students will examine major issues of past decades that have shaped the field in the 21st century. The Spring 2023 course will focus on Native American history and interpretaion in Athens and on campus at UGA.

Students who complete this course will develop an understanding of the history of the field of public history, methods used to present history to a broader public, the skills necessary to completing public history projects and understanding of the issues and controversies that have helped define the field of public history
