~*~*~*~ ¡ESPANOL ABAJO! ~*~*~*~

This Earth Day, let us gather together to lift up the important environmental work of LGBTQ+ people in our community. Join us for this outdoor film screening to open deeper discussions about climate vulnerability in queer and trans communities and how we can work together to prepare for resilience. This event will raise funds for the completion of the documentary and for mutual aid for queer resilience projects in the wake of climate disasters.

FRIDAY APRIL 22, 6-9:30pm

Lake Herrick Pavilion (In google maps, write "Intramural Fields Parking Deck")

Program:

6-7pm - Dinner, Tabling, Raffle, and Plant Sale

7-7:30pm - Welcome & Honoring the Land

7:30-9:15pm - Film Screening - Fire & Flood: Queer Resilience in the era of Climate Change

9:15-9:30pm - Announcing First Annual Earth Gay Awards & Raffle winners

About the film:

Fire & Flood documents these near-simultaneous climate disasters in the fall of 2017 through the voices of 24 LGBTQ+ people who led projects for the resilience of their communities and bioregions. In connecting the wildfire experiences of Californians with the hurricane experiences of Puerto Ricans, the film provides a unique view into the shared histories and enduring legacies of colonization, and highlights queer and trans resilience projects that point to transformational solutions for the roots of our climate crisis.

Accessibility:

- Lake Herrick Pavilion is wheel-chair accessible from the Intramural Field Parking Deck.

- Spanish interpretation will be available. The documentary has bilingual captions for mixed English and Spanish-speaking audiences.

- Another version of the film is available with English-only captions for Deaf and hard of hearing. Please contact us through this form if this version would be more accessible to you and we will set-up a second screen to play these subtitles simultaneously.
