University of Georgia honors student and former Native American Student Association president has been awarded the competitive and highly respected Rhodes Scholarship.

On December 29, the Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs decided to acquire in trust tribally-owned lands for promoting economic opportunities, new housing options for the community, and other purposes under the Old Pascua Community Land Acquisition law.

Indigenous Peyote use traditions have been carried through forced assimilation and genocide. The peyote cactus is indigenous to one small area of Texas and is difficult to cultivate. The psychedelic renaissance currently sweeping America is trying to co-opt these traditions for profit.

The 57,000-acre piece of land within the Qualla Boundary is a rich ecosystem that 16,000 members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians call home.

Moccasins that were taken from an unknown Native boy at the notorious Carlisle Indian Industrial School more than 100 years ago, have finally been returned to Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate lands.
